Club 250 Tickets Now on Sale!

Between now and June 30, Club 250 fundraiser tickets can be purchased for drawings starting the first week in July!  Tickets are $52 each, and only 250 total are available.  Once all tickets are sold, drawings start on July 4, 2023, and continue each week through June 25, 2024.  52 tickets will be drawn at random–one each week–and correspond to a cash prize.  Winning tickets return to the pool for additional chances to win!  Funds raised benefit programs facilitated by Soroptimist International of Canton/Stark County that include an empowerment camp for middle-school girls, providing educational awards to women in college, providing beds to women and families transitioning out of the Domestic Violence Shelter Inc. into new homes, and more.

We collect donations for the shelters operated by Domestic Violence Project, Inc.  Click button at right to view a list of what we collect each month.  YOU can participate in this effort!  Contact us to arrange for a pickup/dropoff of your contributions, or purchase directly from the DVPI's Amazon wishlist and have shipped to the organization directly.

MAIHARRIESES WOODEN

Congratulations to our 2023 "Woman of Distinction" award winner,

Maiharriese Wooden is the Founder of the Stark Blessing Box Initiative. She is also the Community Engagement Director at First Christian Church - Canton where she co manages their clothing ministry (Common Goods), runs the monthly Laundry Project, and does community engagement activities. She also works to build relationships with other organizations and communities to empower residents of the greater Stark  county area.Se is a Saint Joseph's Senior Living board member and a Member of the Stark County Junior League. Maiharriese is a mother of two adult daughters, grandmother of six, and is strong in her faith. 

 

Maiharriese has had personal experiences with daily challenges with food insecurity and this has encouraged her to start the Stark County Blessing Box initiative. She has been called by the Lord to begin this and has placed over 16 boxes in the Stark county area helping hundreds of families a year provide food for their families. 

 

Her obedience and faith in the Lord is very important to her and her mantra in life is, “To follow Jesus’ example in caring for the disadvantaged and suppressed while guiding them toward the transformational love of Christ.

TAYLOR BATES

Taylor Bates was born in Alliance, OH. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science, and is currently attending Northern Kentucky University online to earn her Master of Social Work with a micro-focus in Trauma Informed Care. She has been a General Mental Health Case Manager at Coleman Health Services since October 2021. Taylor is also a Volunteer Board Member at YWCA of Alliance to help promote the empowerment of women, and eliminate racism. She is also the Vice President of COVID Christmas Angels, a non-profit organization centered around providing Christmas gifts for families in need. In her free time, Taylor enjoys spending time with her cats, family, and friends. Her dream is to help our youth realize their dreams, and then help build their resilience to achieve those dreams!

The Soroptimist Ruby Award honors women who, through their professional or personal efforts, are making extraordinary differences in the lives of women and girls. Honorees are women who have worked to improve the lives of other women or girls. Their work has had a significant impact, and also inspires and encourages other women.
